13 Aug TVG’s Counter top planning guide!
Here at Treasure Valley Granite we want to help make your process of getting stone into your home seamless; from start to finish. Here is a breakdown of our process here at TVG!
First!
Bring us some plans you have of your project or send them to our e-mail on our contact page. Home drawn plans work great also, we don’t need anything too fancy! Having plans helps communicate costs and how much stone you need to purchase!
This step is a great time to decide if you want granite or Quartz back splash, which plays into how much total stone you will need!
Second!
Find your stone! This is the perfect time to start stone hunting! We have many vendors throughout town that carry quality stone! Colors, patterns, and sizing of slabs will vary.
TIP: Bring a cabinet, tile, shower, or paint color with you to help make your decision easier!
Whether you choose to go with granite or Quartz we know you will be pleased with your end result!
(Please refer to the Granite or Quartz blog for more information.)
Third!
Determine whether you would like under mount or top mount sinks for your job. Under mount is a great option for easy cleaning! TVG carries great quality stainless under mount kitchen sinks IN STOCK! We also carry porcelain under mount vanity sinks in oval or rectangle.
If you are interested in granite composite sinks, or any other styles, we can special order them for you! (Please give ample notice before your job if you plan on ordering, so we can ensure it is here for fabrication.) Please have your selected sink by your template date!
Also, start narrowing down which edge detail would perfectly fit your job. Edge details add character to your kitchen, so pick with confidence! Check them out on the “Edges” tab on our website.
Fourth!
Time to get on the schedule! After purchasing your slab(s), we will pencil you in for a template and install date. Generally, we install your new counters 3-6 business days after your template date!
Please make sure all of your cabinets are set before we come and template! We can pick up any sinks you may have during this time. Templates are when we come and make a physical pattern of your counter top to ensure a great fit at the install!
If you are doing a remodel with existing counter tops, you do not need to have them removed for template, but they will need to be removed before install. (TVG can do demolition with prior notice, and a charge.)
Fifth!
This is when we put our custom touches on your counter tops! We carefully lay your templates on the slab of stone and find the best seam matches possible. We try to feature the most beautiful parts of your stone at most eye catching areas of your kitchen or vanity. Our fabricators will then put your chosen edge detail on your stone pieces, and cut out your sinks! We seal them (if it’s granite) and out the door they go for install!
Final step!
The big day! Install! If you have existing counter tops, we need them removed by this day so we can place your new stone! TVG does not disconnect or reconnect any plumbing. Please have a plumber arranged before we come. TVG will then place your stone on your cabinets, mount sinks, carefully place your seams, and drill your faucet holes.
Please feel free to ask our installers any questions you may have!
You’re done! We hope you love your new counters! They will last you a lifetime with proper care. We take pride in our work, and are confident you will see that shine through in your home!
